SMS

educare SMS is a priority delivery enabled text message service designed to help schools send out bulk messages, bye-pass Do Not Disturb (DND) blockages, and keep track of message delivery reports.

Compose SMS

Here you can compose SMS, send Bulk SMS, Schedule SMS, compose SMS and save as a draft.

How to send Bulk SMS

To send bulk SMS, follow these steps;

1. Go to SMS/WhatsApp module

2. Navigate to Compose SMS tab

3. Read and follow the How to send bulk SMS instructions written on the page

4. Select school category you wish to send SMS to from drop-down list

5. Select the role you wish to send SMS to from drop-down list

6. Select Level and Class of the role selected to fetch applicable phone numbers

7. Select sub filters if applicable

8. Click on Add numbers to fetch all desired numbers based on your selections. this brings out all the phone numbers separated by commas.

9. Edit Sender Name to desired name.

10. Type in desired message in the text box provided

11. Click on Save as Draft to save message for future use or click on Send SMS to send out text to selected users.

How to schedule SMS

1. From step 10 above, click on Check to create scheduled SMS check box to activate scheduler

2. Select Month, Day, Year, Hour, Minutes desired for SMS to be dispatched in future

3. Click on Send SMS to schedule SMS

Recharge & Payment Options

Sending SMS is not a free service and as such requires that you have credit units available. You can recharge credit units at your convenience with multiple payment options to choose from when buying.

How to Recharge Credit Units

To recharge credit units, follow these steps;

1. Navigate to Recharge/Pricing tab of SMS/WhatsApp module

2. Type in number of units you wish to purchase

3. Click on Buy button to display payment mode page

4. Select desired payment option from array of displayed payment options

5. Follow instructions and process payment successfully

6. Your credit units will be credited to your SMS page

Compose SMS Note:

• Credit units are required to send SMS. Credit units are bought directly from your bank account.

• Minimum of 100 units and a maximum of 10,000,000 units of SMS credit units can be bought online

• Cost per text for all Major telecom service providers are listed on the recharge page

• Allow Select Role to be in the default selection of All if you wish to send SMS to everyone in the
  selected school category

• Click on Select Individual Numbers button to manually select numbers of individuals you wish to send SMS
  to from the pop-up page. Search for desired users name and tick checkbox beside each user. Click on
  Select button at the bottom of the page when all individuals have been selected.

• Sender name should not exceed 13 characters

• A page of text message is limited to 160 characters so if your message is longer than a page it will consume more credits to send text messages per user selected (i.e. messages of more than 160 characters will require at least 2 pages and would charge the cost of 2 pages of text to send the message per user selected)

Delivery Reports

educare SMS generates delivery reports from messages sent either in batches (bulk SMS) or single SMS. These delivery reports gives analysis of if the message was delivered or not, when the message was delivered, and in the case of bulk SMS, who got the message and who did not.
